SelfSays: Go To The Coast is Clear Record Release

May 24, 2011 No Comments by Ryan Solecki

Adding on to his already full plate, writer/rapper/producer/professional face maker, SelfSays, will be performing some of his many talents at The Coast is Clear record release party on June 11. For those who haven’t seen Self in his act, you can expect just about anything to occur. Self always captures the audience in a magical way, often breaking the ice with an occasional joke (and yes, SelfSays has done a bit of stand up comedy in his day), all while leading up to a performance of some of the realest and most honest Hip Hop music you can experience. Originally from Lansing, but has lived all over the Michigan map, if there is one thing that you can say about SelfSays it is that he definitely makes moves.

Self has been steadily grinding since the release of his first album entitled, Something Out of Nothing, in February 2009. The album features beats by Samiyam, Bullion, and Knowledge, and has opened ears across the globe with songs like Little Things and Parting Gifts. The album awarded him the recognition to be featured on projects with artists like I Heart Lung of Asthmatic Kitty Records and Lawless Element. Self was featured on the famous Gilles Peterson show on BBC Radio One in the U.K. and has also has worked with the likes of Shigeto and Blockhead, known for his work with Aesop Rock. His other accolades are too numerous to mention, but, just know that SelfSays is a rare talent and will be giving you timeless music for many years to come.

There is so much more that can be said about SelfSays, and you can read more about him and listen to his music here, but make sure you check out his performance on June 11 at the Pike Room in Pontiac.  Finally, while you are at the party, make sure you pick up his classic album to go along with your free copy of The Coast Is Clear from MidCoast Most.  See you there.
